The Delicate Matters

Okay, I will be real quick, because I don't have much time.

In the game of influence you have to be real careful of three key elements, in order to move a strategy forward.

  1. Trust
  2. Credibility
  3. Momentum

These three elements must be present for anything to work. Trust comes from making deadlines, being consistent, and delivering beyond expectations. The credibility comes from removing all agendas from your scope of work. There should be no sign of personal gain, no favoritism, and no emotions to anything. Finally, momentum is a perceptual thing. similar to sitting in the front seat of a car looking forward down a straight and plain road. If you only look to the side, you can visualize the movement. Thus, you have to present the frame to your audience to highlight the momentum, sometimes framing the situation from the back window at times to show where you have come from.

I am truly engaging in a social science experiment that is revealing a great deal about my ability to lead, communicate, and influence others - even in times of resistance.
